The blog is an informal platform for Andrew and Dave to discuss the ins and outs of starting a seafood promotion program. It's no picnic... or is it one big picnic with tons of great seafood?! You decide. Loosen your tie and weigh in on current topics here.

First Press Event!

Chef-Brian-Casey
Two hours ago, we held the first Sustainable Seafood Featured Tasting here at the Aquarium of the Pacific to coincide with the launch of the new website, the new look, and the fantastic new logo. I think it’s fair to say that it was a resounding success, with all the chefs bringing their A-game and all of the participants, judges, and members of the media looking full and happy.

In attendance were: Chef Arthur Gonzalez from McKenna’s on the Bay, Chef Chris Krajacic from Walt’s Wharf, Chef Micheal Poompan from the Renaissance Hotel Long Beach, and Chef Brian Casy from our own SAVOR… food service, who sponsored the event. All of them prepared Alaskan halibut with their own particular culinary twist on this excellent alternative to Chilean sea bass. The De Lucias of family-owned Long Beach Seafood Company were kind enough to provide the halibut for the event. The official tasting panel was made up of Robert Haskell, VP of Public Relations at the Pacific Life Foundation (who funds Seafood for the Future), John Rabe of KPCC 89.3 fm’s Off-Ramp, and Chef Michael Cimarusti of Providence Restaurant in Los Angeles.

Also present were several excellent chefs who featured specific dishes to all in attendance: Chef James Richardson of Nook Bistro, Chef Jason Stein of Parker’s Lighthouse, and Chef Paul Buchanan of Primal Alchemy Catering.
